What Defines Success?

Looking over the past 18 years of my career, I can honestly say my view of success has changed. I believe being an entrepreneur has given me the opportunity to define what success means to me. It has helped me align my passion with my purpose.

It's fitting that October 31st (Halloween) is the anniversary of starting my own business. For me, it's not about putting on a mask anymore, but taking it off! Over the past 6 years, I have learned more about myself and have had to push myself past all of the doubt and fear of failing. The hardest part, was giving myself permission. Permission to believe I could do this and people would actually want to hire me. Permission to step out of status quo and do it my way. And most of all, permission to just be me!! The scary part of that is that I also had to take responsibility for all of my actions and decisions. Which also meant that it was completely up to me if I failed or succeeded.

In today's world, it's easy to compare ourselves to everyone else and think that we are not as successful as the people you see on social media. What you need to consider is, what does success look like for you? Is it more freedom with your schedule, more opportunity to be creative, less stress or travel? It's all relative and when you can define success for yourself, you are free to create the life you want to live.

So Be BOLD and go for it!! No one can live your life for you. You have to take charge and make it happen!! Remember....If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door and paint it RED!!!
